Invitation from the Chair
Welcome to the 9th ICNM PARIS ’25 World Congress
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the organizing committee for the ICNM PARIS ’25 World Congress, I am thrilled to extend a warm invitation for you to join us at the 9th ICNM.
This is a wonderful opportunity to explore innovative ideas, connect with new colleagues, reconnect with old friends, and challenge ourselves with diverse perspectives. The ICNM PARIS ’25 World Congress promises to be an inspiring gathering where we can delve into new directions, tools, and training that are essential for our growth.
This year, we are proud to collaborate with 205 esteemed organizations in traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine. Together, we have built an unrivaled platform recognized globally for its quality educational content and impactful research, addressing critical topics that meet the growing demands of our field.
The theme for the 9th Congress is “Restoring Health Naturally,” with a particular focus on brain and mental health, metabolic diseases and weight control, digestive health, nutrition, children’s health, and integrative cancer support, among others.
Working closely with our scientific committee and executive board, we are crafting an exceptional program that reflects the progress we’ve made over the past 50 years, while also addressing current and emerging topics. You can expect a strong emphasis on practical, clinical insights that you can apply in your daily practice.
We believe there will be something valuable for everyone at ICNM. Throughout the congress, you will have access to advanced academic sessions, hands-on workshops, and engaging keynotes and lectures from leading experts in the field.
We genuinely look forward to welcoming you for what promises to be an unforgettable event. Your participation will contribute to the rich tapestry of knowledge and community that defines ICNM.
Sincerely,
A. Narboni ND, TCM

Excellence in complementary & integrative medicine
History
Traditional medicine has been part of every country for centuries. Many of the principles and philosophies originated in Europe in the 16th and 17th century. The original practitioners – prior to 1900s – from around the world, were trained by European doctors using hydrotherapy, herbal medicine and other traditional forms of healing. Currently, European countries consider their practice as a system of healthcare that has evolved by incorporating the traditional medicine of each country with the complementary and integrative medicine principles, theories, modalities and traditions that have been codified in North America.
Principles
The principles taught in most countries include:
- First, Do No Harm (primum non nocere)
- Healing Power of Nature (vis medicatrixnaturae)
- Treat the Cause (tollecausam)
- Treat The Whole Person (tolletotum)
- Doctor as Teacher (docere)
- Disease Prevention and Health Promotion
Theories
There are a number theories practiced around the world including:
- Vital Force (vis vitalis) / Theory of vitality
- Unity of disease
- Hering’s Law of Cure
- Therapeutic Order
- Emunctories
- Theory of Toxemia
- Humoral Theory
- Theory of Complex Systems
Therapies
Traditional therapies used around the world vary by country. Some of the most common modalities include:
- Clinical Nutrition
- Botanical Medicine (Herbalism)
- Homeopathic Medicine
- Traditional Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture
- Physical Medicine
- Hydrotherapy – Water Cure
- Prevention and Lifestyle Counselling
- Hygiene Therapy
- Nature Cure
